How to kill anger and hatred? 5 tips to Andhra friends who hate Telangana formation

Anger and hatred towards an issue can self-destructive. We all have come into this world to spread love and brotherhood, but at times we tend to over-react to a situation. The once friendly Andhra neighbors are spreading hatred on Telangana.

Here are five tips for all my friends in Andhra to overcome this anger and hatred:
  1. Help any two poorest of the poor people in Telangana that you find today. It need not be monetary help. Try to help them with whatever is possible with you.
  2. Remember the best time you spent with any of your friends who hails from Telangana. Remember the help he/she offered. If you never had a friend from Telangana, remember of any road-side incidents which involved a person from Telangana origin helping you with directions.
  3. Find a friend - a die-hard fan of Telangana, and discuss your concerns with him/her. Do not argue. But share your worries. It helps when you vent it out in a composed manner. Remember that you may not get a solution or you may not impose what you want. At the end of the discussion, whether you win an argument or lose it, you will feel happy that your Telangana friend heard it.
  4. Within your limited ability, think about the problems of the poorest of the poor people in Andhra and list out what best you can do on your own, however little it is, to solve the problems that you identified. Make an action plan, shoot it out to the leaders in the Andhra.
  5. The final tip to control your anger is to know this fact: Presence of Disagreement is not Absence of Love. This is the most important point that you need to understand. We may have disagreements, differences but it does not mean that people from Telangana does not love people from Andhra. We love as much as we did in the past. Likewise, you may disagree but you should not stop loving us. The moment you understand this, you will stop have feelings of hatred towards the formation for Telangana.
In conclusion, I want to remind the readers that today, 9th August 2013, is observed as United Nations International Day of World's Indigenous Peoples. On this occasion, I greet each of my brothers and sisters in Andhra and Telangana region to observe peace, tranquility, brotherhood and respect the sentiments, cultures, traditions, beliefs of Indigenous people - people where they think they belong to.

Jai Telangana. Jai Hind.

  1. Dear friend, this is magnanimous of you and well written. But please look into the social media sphere. Telangana people are equally spreading hatred. No Telangana supporting tweeter tweets a day without ridiculing Andhra or calling them thieves or robbers. They event went to the extent of wishing that cyclone Phalin destroy Vizag.

I hope you will share the same good thoughts with your Telangana Brethren.

    Anyway, I appreciate your effort.

  2. Dear Anonymous, thanks for appreciating this piece. I have heard you. I do not support tweets that are baseless and spread hatred. I do not defend them even though I believe such comments are meant to be targeted at politicians and land-grabbers. All I can tell you and several others who got hurt with such baseless comments by Telanganites is this:

"Be the change you want to see" and if we cannot be the change then, "an eye for an eye, makes the world blind". These are not my words but are pearls of wisdom from the greatest spirit that we all recognize - Gandhi.

So, my friend let us start the change from US, not from THEM. Please understand that, Yes, I am indeed sharing similar thoughts with our friends from Telangana. We can wish that they change their wordings, but we cannot expect the change to begin from others. It has to be us.

    Thanks for your valuable time.
